With customers across multiple verticals, we quickly realized tracking task deadlines isn’t a one size fits all use case. Many of the workflows we build require flexibility surrounding when a specific task is due within a process. On top of that, the due date for a task can often change within the same workflow from voyage to voyage.
What are dynamic deadlines?
Think of a future task you often schedule to complete that changes frequently. The date or time in the future will often be a moving target for these tasks. That constant change is what makes it dynamic.
Dynamic deadlines within Voyager gives a user the ability to set task deadlines in an hour or day increments from the desired starting point. The starting point can be prior to a future event, after a scheduled task, or within a sequence of tasks. Also, being dynamic gives the ability to change these deadlines as circumstances change.
Why are dynamic deadlines important?
Dynamic deadlines allow users to be flexible in managing tasks within workflows. If the workflows were rigid and tasks always had to be the same set time in the future, it would make tracking accurate deadlines very difficult.
Also, when users need to involve stakeholders, it is essential to have flexibility so they are engaging the stakeholders at the proper time. The way Voyager works allows many of these tasks to automatically be assigned and notified to stakeholders so there isn’t constant back and forth through emails or updating of spreadsheets.
